In the immediate area, Roanoke is home to two nationally acclaimed four-year colleges, Roanoke College, a coed liberal arts school, and Hollins University, women's liberal arts school. Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke is part of the state's community college system. National Business College is an accredited business school. Virginia College offers computer and business courses on a versatile schedule. A technical school, the Electronic Computer Programming Institute (ECPI), and a medical associate school, the College of Health Sciences, are in Roanoke. Seven other four-year universities and colleges are within sixty miles of Roanoke, including Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) at Blacksburg. The Roanoke Valley Graduate Center offers graduate degrees from Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Radford University, Old Dominion University, Virginia Commonwealth University and University of North Carolina/Greensboro.
